Dr. Robert M. Orrange
Robert M. Orrange is an associate professor of sociology with specializations in the areas of organizations, occupations, and work, along with family sociology and sociological social psychology, and social theory. He earned his Ph.D. in sociology from The University of Texas at Austin, and then spent two years as a postdoctoral associate at the Cornell Employment and Family Careers Institute, an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Working Family Center.
He has recently published a monograph, Work, Family, and Leisure: Uncertainty in a Risk Society (2007), based on his research into the plans and aspirations of twenty-something law and MBA students for work, family, and leisure. Orrange also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Management, and prior to entering academia he was an operations manager for a Fortune 500 wholesale industrial supply company. He is currently at work on the forthcoming Individuals and Organizations: A Pragmatist-Weberian Synthesis.
