Amanda
Karel
|
Amanda Karel, graduate recipient, was
part of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Resource
Center Speaker's Bureau for four years. She helped to start a
chapter of the national Gay, Lesbian, Straight Educators
Network on campus and she facilitated a campus discussion
group for lesbian and bisexual women. Ms. Karel lived and
worked in the First year Center as a graduate assistant and
an out and proud lesbian.

David
Shong
|
David Shong, undergraduate recipient,
organized the support of Student Government and the Residence
Hall Association at Eastern Michigan University for a
full-time LGBT Resource Center. He was one of the first
members of the Student Advisory Board to the Center, and he
persuaded the Student Affairs Committee to the Board of
Regents to add an LGBT student representative to this
important committee. |
