Shawna M.
Irish
|
Shawna M. Irish, graduate recipient, acquired her
Masters in Liberal Studies in Women's Studies in 2003. She
was a leader in the campus student organization Tri-Pride
that lobbied at the State Capitol and initiated the Ally
Campaign wherein Tri-Pride speakers spoke in classrooms about
the importance of heterosexual allies. As a leader in
Tri-Pride, she participated in LGBT-issues training sessions
for many community nonprofit agencies. |
Pamela S.
Bogart
|
Pamela S. Bogart,graduate recipient, was
a graduate assistant in the Eastern Michigan University's
TESOL program. Pamela Bogart was active in the Ypsilanti
Campaign for Equality and sang in the regional Out Loud
Chorus. She consciously "came out" in all of her endeavors at
Eastern Michigan University in order to positively affect the
awareness and the teaching of EMU faculty, staff, and
students. |

Strongarone
|
April M. Strongarone, undergraduate
recipient, co-chaired the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender
student group at Eastern Michigan University and the Queer
Student Leadership Summit in 1992. Ms. Strongarone acquired
her Masters in Social Work and aspires to empower at-risk
populations, including lesbian, gay, bi-attractional, and
transgender youth. She interned at the Ruth Ellis Center in
Highland Park, Michigan.
