Information for new EMU students and their parents
EMU is committed to making sure that you feel welcomed to our campus, and we stand ready to help you with anything you need. We are happy to have you as part of the EMU community.
Our students, without exception, are the most important reason we exist. We apologize in advance for any minor disruption you may experience during this period of the faculty strike. If you have any concerns, please tell us! Throughout the move-in and orientation weekend, EMU personnel will be available and visible all over campus. Ask any of us for information or assistance at any time. If the faculty strike continues beyond the weekend, we will remain available for anything you might need related to the strike.
For the EMU moms and dads out there, we understand that you have entrusted your children to EMU, and we want to make sure we honor that trust by successfully managing this situation with students as our primary concern.
The simple fact is that the faculty union (AAUP) is on strike, but we believe that a settlement will be reached soon. EMU believes in the importance of putting students first. At the same time, we still must utilize the negotiations process to establish a contract with the faculty.
Students may still register for classes, buy their books, and find other help they need.
All services on campus remain open as scheduled. Housing and dining services for students will open on schedule and will provide continuing services for students. McKenny Union and the REC/IM building are open on their regular schedules, serving the University Community.
Classes will meet on schedule. Students should feel free to e-mail their professors for more information.
The Department of Public Safety, University Health Services, and the Children’s Institute are open to serve the University Community.
All service offices are operating as normal:
