Almost every department within the Division of Student Affairs employs graduate assistants, many of whom are enrolled in the Department of Leadership and Counseling’s master degree program in Student Affairs. Graduate assistants gain valuable work experience in the field of student affairs by working directly in one of our divisional departments.

Graduate assistants at EMU are entitled to 18 tuition free credit hours per year plus a graduate assistantship stipend. The total financial package includes paid tuition, registration, general funds, parking permit, priority registration, library privileges, and a discount at EMU's Barnes and Nobles Bookstore. Some assistantships provide housing and dining services support and/or provide supplemental travel expenses to professional conferences.

While a particular assistantship may not be available at any given time, since most assistantships are for two years, it is rare to not have some graduate assistantships open within the division. Please contact the specific department(s) to inquire about the types of assistantships available.
