Wellness Woof addresses student stress to promote success

The Wellness Woof program brings licensed therapy dogs from Therapaws to connect with our EMU community members throughout the academic year. In the 2016–2017 academic year, 1200 students attended the program with an average attendance of 149 participants per monthly event.

Our participants have said:

  • "This program is truly amazing."
  • "It makes my week a lot better."
  • "I think it's a great resource for stressed out college kids."

95% of participants noted leaving the event as happy or mildly happy as compared to 54% of participants self-identified as feeling sad/stressed or mildly sad/stressed prior to the program.

Wellness Woof will be held from 4–6 p.m. at the fifth floor of the Rec/IM on the following dates in 2017/18:

  • September 11
  • October 9

  • November 13
