Student Government is heavily involved in many different on campus organizations and events. There are many ways to be a part of this involvement.
For the 2014-2015 school year, a number of committees and commissions have opened up for students and senators at EMU. While voting on topics within committees is limited to senators, commissions are open for all students within good judicial standing at EMU.
Campus Life and Student Government have collaborated in combining the former events of SOLAR and SURGE. Last summer, Campus Life put on SOLAR (Student Organization Learning and Resources) to educate organizations about University policies and procedures regarding organizations and to supply them with the learning tools they need to have a successful academic year. Student Government hosted SURGE, an event which focused on collaboration and networking with other organizations, as well as information on various topics to make organizations more effective. EMU Student Government is involved with many of the Student Organizations. Student Government is in charge of the money that is allocated to each Student organizations. Student Service Grants are a way for funds and support to made available for student organization to encourage, promote, and develop student organization community service projects. Service in this instance is the act of volunteering one's time and resources to benefit individuals, groups, or communities with set objectives.
