Welcome Letter: EMU Student Body President
Greetings Fellow Eagles!
Whether it is your first semester here at Eastern, your last, or just somewhere in between, I wish to extend my welcome to you all as your Student Body President. It is an incredible honor to serve you all and before we continue on, remember that I work for you! So throughout your time here, please let me know how I can be of service.
Eastern is a place that is representative of that age old saying “what you get out is what you put in”. Even in a world where nothing is guaranteed, circumstances unfair, and events untimely. Together, we have the opportunity to reach far beyond the realities we may be used to, and in ways that will push us to grow as students, friends, and future world changers.
I want to also extend to you a challenge. Get involved! It sounds super corny because it is incredibly true. You are more likely to graduate when you are involved in your community, for you feel invested in your college experience beyond the classroom! We have a countless number of sporting events. Our student artists put on some jaw dropping showcases. Your RA’s will have programs that are bound to have free food. I’m only naming a few, but even then, that does not even begin to scratch the surface of all that Eastern, and the City of Ypsilanti, have to offer.
As we depart, I will not lie to you, college is filled with good times, but also some bad times. Yet, at the end of the day, when we remember we are all Eagles - striving to better ourselves and expand our knowledge of the world around us – nothing can keep us from having an incredible year. I cannot wait to hear about your future experiences, so go; learn, grow, and have fun!
