Lambda Phi Chapter Alpha Phi Omega Risk Management Policies First and foremost, we will abide by the national Alpha Phi
Omega risk
management policy. The policy of the
National Service Fraternity, Eastern Michigan University, and all
local, state and
federal laws will have precedence over the policy of this chapter in
the event
of any discrepancy or contradiction. At any event
where alcohol is
being served, precautions will be taken to prevent the serving of
alcohol to
minors and to prevent drinking and driving. These
precautions will include, but are not limited to the
following: 1)
Non-alcoholic
beverages will be served. 2)
Sleeping
arrangements will be provided for those who need
them. 3)
Members
will be stopped from drinking by a sober attendee
before they become a danger to themselves or others. 4)
Designated
drivers and a key taker shall be on duty at any
chapter-organized party where alcohol is present. Volunteer
members will be found to perform the duties of
designated drivers and key taker at least one day in advance. If no designated drivers or a key taker are
found, there will be no party. 5)
The names
of the designated drivers and the key taker shall
be visibly posted at each
party
along with the hours on duty. 6) The key taker, will take car keys from all members and guests wishing to drink. 7) When the last designated driver goes off-duty, members and guests who have been drinking and are still at the party will be expected to stay the night at the house where the party was held. 8) Designated drivers and the key taker shall be sober and free of substances that impair judgment and motor skills. 9)
No chapter funds
shall be used for
the purchase of alcohol.
Liability: A waiver will be
signed at the beginning
of each semester by each member of the chapter. The
waiver will include, but is not limited to issues surrounding
transportation and injury. The Vice President will be responsible for
the writing and distribution of said waiver.
