A nice example of this mindset is the intimate, almost indecent project by the scandalous media artist Andrei Velikanov, entitled Just Born (http://arseni.velikanov.ru/). In a precise, methodical way he uploads documents that chronologically present scenes of his son Arseny’s birth and childhood—scenes usually hidden from the public eye; scenes usually meant for private, domestic viewing. We see naturalistic photographs of the baby being delivered and being fed, and of his first clumsy movements. We are vouchsafed semi-confessional photos that capture the quick, successive stages of the baby’s exploration of the social environment. In other words, the artist has intentionally decided to make public and distribute on the Internet those moments of intimate experience that usually are thoroughly shielded from the eyes of strangers.
