The purpose of this organization is to promote
educational and scientific endeavors by:
Developing and encouraging fraternity among persons
interested in computer science at Eastern Michigan University and
the surrounding area.
Encouraging the increase of knowledge and interest
in the science, design, development, construction, languages, management,
and applications of modern computing.
For Winter 2006 semester,
Computer Science club will meet in room 302
at 4:00 pm every Wednesday,
unless otherwise noted.

March 14, 2006 @ 3:00pm in Room 301
The Computer Science Department in conjunction with
Holman Learning
Center presents: Evolution of Hypermedia and Interactive Narrative.
Dr. Jeff Parker of EMU's English Language & Literature Department
will
give this interesting talk on Tuesday March 14th at 3 pm in room
301
Pray-Harrold.
Pizza will be provided for the event courtesy of the Computer Science
Department.
DESCRIPTION: In this talk he will discuss and show examples of
Hypermedia and Interactive Narrative, from the first generation
of
web-based hypertexts circa 1994 to contemporary CAVE-based stories
and
poems.
BIO: Jeff Parker, an Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at
EMU,
teaches courses in the development of Hypermedia Narrative and Fiction.
He has worked on many projects with multimedia artists and designers.
His theoretical and artistic work in hypermedia, for which he received
a
grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities in 2001, has
been
published in The Iowa Review Web, Beehive, the Electronic Book Review,
and many other publications.
