  • New Business:

  • ~ HSA will be participating in Relay for Life held from 10am Saturday, April 1, 2006 to 10am Sunday, April 2, 2006. If you are interested in donation, becoming a team member, or want more information contact the team captain Natalie Gerlach at ngerlach@emich.edu you can also go to the Relay for Life website. Thanks for any support you give!


  • ~ On Monday, April 17, 2006 we will be holding our first Honors Showcase and Faculty of the Year Award from 1pm to 4pm in the Alumni Room in McKenny Union. The Honors Showcase will showcase Honors students work in the form of Honors Projects, papers, and fellowships. Hope you can come out to see them, if you are interested in presenting a project of your own please email one of the Executive Board members for more information or visit the Honors Office for a Project/Fellowship Form. The forms need to be returned to an HSA board member or the Honors Office by April 13, 2006. The Faculty of the Year Award is to recognize an exceptional member of the Eastern Michigan University faculty. If you would like to nominate a member of the faculty that has made your honors experience exceptional through either an honors course or through an honors contract in a course stop by the Honors Office for nomination forms or contact an HSA board member. The Faculty of the Year Award nomination forms are due to an HSA Exectutive Board member or the Honors Office by April 13, 2006.


  • ~ At the April meeting we will be holding elections for the Exectutive Board positions, if you are interested or have any questions email one of the current board members. The Exective Board positions there are include,: President, V.P. of Internal Affairs (V.P.), V.P. of Finance Report (Treasurer), Chairman of Philanthropy, Secretary, Historian, Social Chair, Webmaster, and House of Representatives Representative. You can also get a full description of these position in the Constitution

  • ~ Induction was held Friday, February 17, 2006 at Tower Inn. We inducted 19 members in HSA. See the pictures page for a picture from that night.


  • ~ "Semester Wrap-Up" was held Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005. from 6:30 to 8:30 in Wise. There was free food (Pizza, Pop, Cookies). and gift wrapping for family/friends (We supplied the paper).



  • Past news:

  • ~ Build 4 Bucks was held on Tuesday, November 15, 2005 and was a success.
    * The four groups raised a total of $2400.00 for Habitat for Humanity.
    * HSA contributed $160.00 towards the t-shirts.
    * Congratulation to the "Education Builders" team that won! Great job Lu, Brigit and Katie.

  • ~ Build 4 Bucks is going to be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2005 for more information contact Mike Haynes at mhaynes@emich.edu or contact Rebecca Russell at rrussel4@emich.edu
    ~ The HSA Executive Board members met with Jim Knapp (Director of the Honors College) and Susan Anderson (Assistant Director of the Honors College) on August 25, 2005 to discuss plans for HSA this year.
  • HSA will have a table set up at Fajita Fest in University Park on Monday, September 5, 2005 from 5:00PM - 7:30PM stop by and talk to us. We will also be selling HSA t-shirts at Fajita Fest.

  • The first HSA meeting of the 2005-2006 academic year will be held in the Wise Hall main lounge on Monday, September 12, 2005 at 7:00PM. Come join us at the meeting.


  • ~ Over the summer our HSA President, Joe Swierlik has taken an Internship working with Disney in Florida and will be there until January. Our HSA Vice-President of Internal Affairs, Chris Fust resigned his position. The board as a whole is working to run HSA successfully our HSA Vice-President of Financial Affairs, John Feldkamp is our acting President.

    ~ At the last HSA meeting that was held on Wednesday, April 13 we voted in the officers for next school year (2005-2006). You can view their bios and email them from here.

    ~ Wednesday, March 23 we help host Build for Bucks which was held in front of Pray-Harrold. Thank you to everyone who participated and/or donated to the cause, which was raising money for Habitat for Humanity. See pictures from that day here .
