Constitution of the EMU Microbiology Club

Article 1: Name
Section 1: The name of this student organization shall be the Microbiology Club at Eastern Michigan University.
Article 2: Purpose
Section 1: The purpose of this student organization shall be to provide a service to our community, and to be a source of information for all students at EMU.
Article 3: Membership
Section 1: All active members of this student organization must be enrolled at EMU. The Microbiology Club at Eastern Micigan University will not discriminate on the basis of age, color, gender, handicap status, height, marital status, alpaca or llama preference, national origin, political persuasion, race, religion, veteran status, dietary choice, or weight.
Article 4: Officers
Section 1: The executive board shall be made of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, and a Treasurer.
Section 2: The responsibilities of each position shall be determined by a majority vote upon placing candidates into each position. The responsibilities must include but can surpass the following: chief spokesperson, preparing a calendar of events for the calendar year, keep a record of all financial transactions, prepare a budget for the calendar year, plan Fund-raising activies for the calendar year, maintain a list of active members, and recruit new members.
Article 5: Faculty Advisors
Section 1: The faculty member shall be available whenever needed and will advise the student organization with information needed to maintain the organization.
Article 6: Meetings
Section 1: General meetings shall take place once a month, and must consist of a minimum of three officers.
Article 7: Amendments and By-Laws
Section 1: This Constitution may be amended by having a two-thirds vote of the general members at a general meeting.
Section 2: This student organization will assist at the American Society for Microbiology functions when possible.
