Lists Within Sentences
Separate items in a list with commas or, if the items within the lists contain commas, use semicolons.

Vertical Lists
Numbered lists should only be used when the order of the items matters or should be followed.
To register for classes follow this procedure:
1.Dial 734.487.3309.
2.Punch the numbers for your status and semester.
3.Enter your PIN.
4.Follow the remaining instructions.
If the introductory matter and the list items make up a complete sentence, punctuate the individual items, or the entire list, as a full sentence.
If punctuation labors the list with unwanted complication, or if no individual items are punctuated, most punctuation is unnecessary.This summer's campers will be treated to
- first-hand training from EMU's men's and women's head soccer coaches;
- small-group sessions with varsity assistant coaches on passing, dribbling and ball control;
- instruction on proper endurance and weight training; and,
- well-structured, full-speed, 90-minute FIFA-officiated games.
The course is graded on the following:
- class participation
- weekly assignments
- three individual field trips
- five short papers
- one culminating portfolio of work
