Application Deadline
The priority due date for applications to the M.S.W program is January 15th. Applications will still be accepted after this date, and will be reviewed until the enrollment limit has been reached. Then a waiting list will be established. You are encouraged to apply early, since applications will be reviewed as they are received.
The EMU Graduate School deadline for financial aid and scholarship applications is February 15th. Beginning in 2007, the MSW Program admits new students only in the fall semester for both the Full and Advanced Standing Programs. We encourage you to submit your application and all supporting documents (including transcripts and letters of recommendation) before January 15th or earlier for priority processing. Applications will continue to be reviewed until we reach our enrollment limit. We will begin reviewing applications in November.
EMU-DETROIT CLASSES
The MSW classes held at our Detroit site (Northwest Detroit Activity Center) during the 2007-08 academic year will be open electives and Advanced level courses from the 3rd year of the 4 year part-time Program. These would therefore only be open to students who began the Advanced MSW Program last year, or are continuing in the 4 year program.
Elective courses will be available in Detroit on an ongoing basis, and these are also open to non-degree graduate students prior to admission to a MSW Program and can be later applied to a later MSW Program at EMU or elsewhere.
All required courses in Detroit are open exclusively to students admitted to the MSW Program, and registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. The only concentration courses offered in Detroit are in the Child and Family Services concentration.
The current plans are for the entire 4 year cycle of part-time classes to be repeated in a continuous loop. The next cycle of the entire 4 year part-time cycle will begin in Fall 2008, and would be relevant for students who would be starting the 63 credit Full Program (students without a BSW, or not meeting the criteria for the Advanced Standing Program) at that time. Advanced courses relevant to advanced standing students will begin next in Fall 2010.
