Activities and Acomplishments

Professor Smith joined the EMU faculty in the Fall of 1994. Professor Smith previously taught at Elmhurst College (Illinois) and the University of Kansas. He has worked 20 years in the Naval Reserve as a Senior Officer. He is a Captain in the U.S. Naval Reserve and is currently the Commanding Officer of the Volunteer Training Unit at the Naval Reserve Readiness Center in Toledo, Ohio. Professor Smith has a wealth of social work experience, has given numerous professional presentations, and has published extensively. Professor Smith’s current interest lies in the development and proposal of an interdisciplinary Ph.D. Program in Community Management.
