Advising
If you are interested in exploring social work as a major you may contact the BSW program at bsw.program@emich.edu. Prior to taking SWRK 251 students may receive academic advising from the CHHS Advising Center to advising center where general education and social work prerequisites will be reviewed. When taking SWRK 251: Self-Assessment and Development for Social Work, you will complete a course plan leading to graduation. Once you have been admitted to the BSW Program, you will have ongoing academic advising from our Undergraduate Social Work Program Office and professional advising from faculty whose interests match your own.
Transfer Students
The Undergraduate Social Work Program currently has Articulation Agreements with Washtenaw Community College, Wayne County Community College, and Monroe Community College. Please review these agreements if you are planning to transfer to EMU Social Work Program. All other transfer students should refer to the Transfer Equivalency Guide at http://www.emich.edu/registrar/tranequiv.htm and contact the Undergraduate Social Work Program Office for further information BSW.Program@emich.edu or call the Student Services Coordinator at 734 487 6807.
Advising for Majors
The Baccalaureate Social Work Program has mandatory advising upon admission to the program. Students are required to make an appointment with the Student Service Coordinator, The BSW GA or the BSW Director while taking Social Work 251 to develop their plan for graduation. Students are invited to meet with the BSW Director if they are having academic or personal issues that are getting in the way of their success or need advocacy within the university. Scheduling questions should be addressed with the Student Services Coordinator or the BSW GA.
