Integration of Former Warsaw Pact Countries into the European
Union.
The European Union (EU) facing fierce competition
from other multinational groupings such as the North American
Free Trade Area and the Association of Southeast Nations, is considering
expansion as a way of meeting this competition. One group of former
Warsaw pact countries (the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and
Slovenia) is receiving particular attention as the probable favorite
candidates for immediate entrance to the union. This project explored
their advantages and disadvantages as potential EU members.
