Embeddings of Causal Sets.
This
presentation highlights results from attempts to find embeddings
of causal sets into two-dimensional flat space-time. A causal
set is a discrete model for the small-scale structure of space
and time, and serves as a good candidate for a theory of quantum
gravity. The causal sets used here are generated by a sequential
growth dynamics called transitive percolation. The transitive
percolation procedure is a common way that partially ordered sets
are generated in combinatorial mathematics.
