HIV and the Older Adult Population

A widespread myth assumes that advanced age equals asexuality. The main form of sexuality education for seniors is through advertisements for performance enhancing drugs. Although the number of AIDS cases has quintupled between 1990 and 2001 for adults 50 and over, community education on HIV and AIDS has largely ignored this population. As the population ages, resources need to be specifically targeted to assist and educate people over 50 about this growing health threat.
