Comparison of Gas Chromatographic Methods for Measurement of a Lipid Peroxidation Biomarker

Malondialdehyde (MDA) is a toxic product of cell membrane damage that is initiated by reactive oxygen species. MDA was stabilized by reaction with a chemical reagent so that it could be identified and quantified by gas chromatography in combination with mass spectrometry. The sensitivity of the MDA assay was then established for two gas chromatographs that had different modes of mass analysis.
