En Foręt by Eugene Bozza

Eugene Bozza (1905–91), renowned violinist and conductor, is known mostly as a composer of solo and chamber wind music. En Foręt, one of his best-known works for french horn, means “in the forest” and depicts a hunting party on the various stages of a hunt. Bozza quotes St. Hubert’s horn call as well as the Roman Catholic chant, Victimae Pascale (“to the victim of Easter”). The composition requires the horn player to utilize advanced techniques such as trills, glissandi, hand-stopping and muting.
