On The Move: The Story of MOVE and the City of Philadelphia

This paper chronicles the history of the MOVE organization, from their humble beginning to their tragic end. Using historical and media sources, interviews and published writings, this paper presents the viewpoint of MOVE. Historically, the media coverage of MOVE and their confrontation with city officials has overwhelmingly been one-sided, from the perspective of the city of Philadelphia. This paper chronicles both sides of the confrontation in order to decipher exactly what did occur in the feud between MOVE and the city of Philadelphia that lasted more than 30 years.

Prospects for the Future of African Development: The Likely Impact of Globalization and the World Trade System

The World Trade Organization claims that it is striving to provide trade that is fair and profitable. Our paper argues that this goal is likely to help bolster the African economy. The impact of globalization in Africa, which encompasses international trade, telecommunications and technology, could greatly influence the continent's economic growth and development. However, African economic prosperity in the context of globalization will be contingent upon utilizing regional cooperation and African based solutions.

Hip Hop Meets Feminism

To battle oppression, Black people utilize political action, religion and music. Hip hop, a cultural movement in response to repression, is essential to the fight against sexism and racism. Female hip hop artists refute society's claim of inferiority through their lyrics. It is in the interest of society to study the various forms of oppression that it manifests to provide a way for human kind to coexist. When women are stifled and subjugated to the background, society will not reach its full potential.
