Combining Jewelry and Metalsmithing with Printmaking
The focus of this research project is to combine the discipline of printmaking with that of jewelry and metalsmithing; my goal is to produce work that is a balance between the two. The primary techniques I will use to make a coordinated set of three jewelry pieces will include intaglio and drypoint. In addition to the jewelry, I also plan to silkscreen on pierced brass in order to create a three-dimensional print.

The Investigation of an Individual
Being an individual is all about definitions - how society defines a person and how that person defines herself. In this installation the emphasis is on artistic self-definition through a collection of self - portraits in different media.

Symbolic Communication
Last summer while in Florida, I started taking pictures of the many diverse plants and flowers around me. I was intrigued by their colors, patterns and symmetry. When I came home, I wanted to find similar hidden "gems," this time not in nature, but in the cities where I live and work. I found graffiti, a form of urban communication. After taking many pictures I again noticed patterns, color and symmetry. I combined the two sets of seemingly incongruent pictures and started forming my own version of symbolic communication.

Beauty in Urban Decay: A Study in Color and Abstraction
My family has been supported by the automotive industry for multiple generations. This connection has evoked a personal interest in the disintegrating industrial landscape found in many parts of Michigan. Through these pieces, I will explore my own experiences with post-industrial landscapes I associate with my past. Using color and abstraction, I will express personal response and perspective relating to the subject matter while enhancing the internalized, memory-like quality of my work.
