A Look into the Visual Arts: German and American Expressionism

German and American Expressionism are important stylistic contributors in art history. Expressionism's fundamental role of breaking away from classicism led us to the various styles in modern art as we know them today. I will show examples from both the Ashcan school (American Expressionism 1891-1918) and also Die Brcke or the Bridge (German Expressionism 1905-1913). My project will highlight the similarities and differences which distinguish both schools of thought and their ensuing influence on subsequent movements in Germany and America respectively.
