SSAXLST - Cross Listing Sections

Use the Schedule Cross List Definition (SSAXLST) form to cross list sections. Cross listed sections are two or more sections from different courses that meet in the same room at the same time.

Examples include:

  • An undergraduate and a graduate section in the same department with the same instructor (e.g. Int'l Accounting & Taxation - ACC 475 and ACC 675).
  • Sections with different instructors (e.g. Foundations of Leadership - MSL 101 and Leadership and Problem Solving - MSL 301).
  • Sections from different departments with the same instructor(e.g. Black Women Politics and Racism - AAS 243 and PLSC 243).
  • Sections that meet in the same location (i.e. building and room) at the same time (i.e. start time, end time, and days).
Note: Regardless of whether the department is scheduling a pre-approved room or the R25 automated scheduler (S25) is performing the assignment, two or more sections meeting in the same location (i.e. building and room) at the exact same time (i.e. start time, end time, and days), must be cross listed. If they are not cross listed, the R25 system will generate an error message and only one of the sections will be scheduled in the room. If two or more sections meet in the same location and overlapping times (e.g., one meets from 2:00 pm - 3:50 pm and the other from 3:00 pm - 4:50 pm on the same days and in the same room), contact the College of Arts & Sciences Dean's Office for assistance.

Once the sections have been created and saved, cross listing sections requires three steps:

  • Creating the Cross List Group Identifier.
  • Defining the maximum combined enrollment for the cross listed sections.
  • Applying the sections to the cross list group.
