Fast Dial
Fast Dial will save you some steps when placing a call to a contact listed in your Personal Address Book. Fast Dial and Speed Dial are similar, however there are two major differences:
- You can setup Fast Dial both in CM and at your phone. Speed Dial can only be setup in CM.
- You must log in to your Personal Directory to place a Fast Dial call, whereas you do not have to log in when using Speed Dial.
To Fast Dial on your VoIP phone you will need to do the following in the order indicated:
- If you have not already done so, create a PIN number in Call Manager (CM) (see PIN Number in the navigation menu on the left).
- If you have not already done so, create contacts in your personal address book (see Personal Address Book in the navigation menu on the left).
- Assign fast dial numbers to contacts in CM or on your VoIP phone (instructions below).
- Call using Fast Dial numbers on your VoIP phone (instructions at the bottom of this page).
Assign Fast Dial Numbers in CM
To assign Fast Dial numbers in CM follow the instructions below:
- Log in to CM (login instructions can be accessed from Log in to CM located in the navigation menu on the left).
NOTE: If you have more than one phone you will need to specify which phone you want to assign Fast Dial numbers (instructions can also be accessed from Log in to CM located in the navigation menu on the left).
- Select Fast Dial from the User Options menu.

- Click the Add New button.

- To list all individuals in your Personal Address Book click the Find button without using the other fields.
- To change the number of individuals listed per page, click the Rows per Page drop-down arrow and select a number.

- To search for a specific individual use the drop-down filter menus.
- Enter information in the text field according to the filters selected.
- Click the Find button.

- The next available Fast Dial number automatically populates the Fast Dial field. You can enter a different unused number if you prefer.
- Click on the Work Phone number for it to automatically enter in the Phone Number field located below the Fast Dial field, or type the number in the field from your keyboard.
- Click the Save button.

Assign Fast Dial Numbers On Your VoIP Phone
In addition to assigning Fast Dial numbers in CM you can assign them on you VoIP phone. To assign fast dial numbers on your phone follow the instructions below:
- Press the directories button on the right side of your phone.
- Scroll to Personal Directory.
- If you are not logged in to your Personal Directory you will need to enter your my.emich username and the PIN you created in CM which is different than your voicemail PIN. (Instructions to create a PIN can be accessed from Change PIN Number located in the navigation menu on the left.)
- Press the Submit button.
Note: You will remain logged in until you log out at the Personal Directory menu.
- Press the Select softkey.
- Scroll to Personal Fast Dials.
- Press the Select softkey.
- Press the Assign softkey.
- Scroll to an Unassigned number.
- Press the Assign softkey.
- Enter a 5 or 7 digit number of a contact in you Personal Directory (no commas, periods, dashes or spaces).
- Press the Update button.
- Press the Exit button.

Fast Dial On Your VoIP Phone
To Fast Dial a contact on your VoIP phone follow the instructions below:
- Press the Directories button on the right side of your VoIP phone.
- Scroll to Personal Directory.
- If you are not logged in to your Personal Directory you will need to enter your my.emich username and the PIN you created in CM which is different than your voicemail PIN. (Instructions to create a PIN can be accessed from Change PIN Number located in the navigation menu on the left.)
- Press the Submit button.

- Press the Select button.
- Scroll to Personal Fast Dials.
- Press the Select softkey.
- Scroll to the contact you want to call.
- Press the Fast Dial number associated with the contact (or, press the Dial softkey).
