Types of Positions at TRIO

  • Peer Mentors

    Fantastic opportunity for Psychology, Social Work and Education majors, among others.

    • Peer Mentor are responsible for representing the EMU TRIO SSS Program in a professional manner while at work and in the community.
    • Peer Mentors are expected to serve as role models for students participating in the EMU TRIO SSS Program who are first generation, low income and disabled students attempting to navigate the university environment for the first time.
    • Peer Mentors will help implement programming and execute Individual Student Success Plans (ISSPs) designed to maximize student academic and personal success at EMU.
    • Peer Mentors will also participate in program development activities in order to collective and continually improve operations.
    • Peer Mentors will meet on a biweekly basis with their assigned case load of students; and, they will also interface on a frequent basis with other students, faculty and staff throughout the university. Peer Tutors are expected to represent the EMU TRIO SSS Program in a professional manner while attending program events and related activities on the program’s behalf.
  • Peer Tutors

    Resume building opportunity for all majors.

    • Peer Tutors are responsible for representing the EMU TRIO SSS Program in a professional manner while at work and in the community.
    • Peer Tutors are expected to serve as role models for students participating in the EMU TRIO SSS Program who are first generation, low income, and/or disabled students attempting to navigate the university environment for the first time.
    • Peer Tutors will run one, or more, two hours study sessions weekly. 
  • Office Assistants

    Wonderful opportunity for all Majors. College Work Study required.

    • Student Office Assistants are responsible for representing the EMU TRIO SSS Program in a professional manner while at work and in the community.
    • Student Office Assistants will use information and technology systems to help implement program strategies and advance the mission of the EMU TRIO SSS Program.
    • Student Office Assistants will also participate in program development activities in order to collectively and continually improve operations.
    • Student Office Assistants are expected to represent the EMU TRIO SSS Program in a professional manner while supporting and attending program events and related activities on the program’s behalf.
