  • December TBD

The event will allow students to relax and bond with certified therapy dogs.

Whether you are petting, hugging, or even just hanging out with the dogs, students gain a variety of benefits from attending the event, experts say.

Scientific studies have shown that even just petting a dog can decrease stress, regulate breathing and lower blood pressure. Other research has demonstrated numerous benefits to the psychological and social well being of both the dog and the humans.

The therapy dogs are provided by Therapaws, a volunteer organization dedicated to facilitating healing and providing emotional and social support through the use of certified therapy dogs. These dogs are able to remain calm around other dogs and humans and can sit in the same room for multiple hours.

The event is free and open to the public.
