Individual
Counseling
Daily life produces stress! Problems in relationships,
confusion about one's goals or self, the demands of juggling school,
work and family, or troublesome life events can produce upsetting
emotions which interfere with academic and personal achievements.
Speaking with an objective professional can provide relief, help
you learn more about yourself, and develop new skills to deal
more effectively with life's stresses.
EMU students seek counseling for many reasons. These include a
desire to:
- increase self-confidence and self-esteem
- reduce feelings of depression, worry or anxiety
- change patterns leading to poor academic performance
- reduce loneliness
- become more assertive
- manage concerns relating to sexuality
- cope with the death of a friend or family member
- discuss eating or alcohol problems
- recover from past abusive experiences
