Eastern
Michigan University considers the health of its community to be
vital to organizational effectiveness, productivity and the quality
of life.
Wellness
is an inclusive, comprehensive concept related to health promotion
and disease prevention that acknowledges the dynamic relationships
shared between various factors in life and the impact these “dimensions”
have upon health.
One
of the more popular descriptions of Wellness is provided by Bill
Hettler, M.D. (1979) who views wellness as being composed of six
dimensions, each influencing the complete person.
These dimensions include:
Emotional, Social, Environmental (Occupational), Physical, Spiritual,
Intellectual
