On this day in 1941 - Pearl Harbor, located on the Hawaiian island of Oahu was attacked by nearly 200 Japanese warplanes. The attack resulted in the U.S. entering into World War II.

Fact:

The Gravity Recovery and Interior Laboratory (GRAIL) is an American lunar science mission in NASA's Discovery Program which uses high-quality gravitational field mapping of the Moon to determine its interior structure. The two small spacecraft GRAIL A (Ebb) and GRAIL B (Flow) were launched on September 10, 2011. The twin GRAIL probes have recently revealed the surface of the Moon in unprecedented detail, showing unbelievably deep cracks, craters and tectonic structures.
