WEMU NEEDS VOLUNTEERS FOR SPRING PLEDGE DRIVE: WEMU needs volunteers to answer phones and take pledges during their Spring On-Air Pledge Drive, Thursday, April 4 through Thursday, April 12, in the WEMU studios located on the fourth floor of King Hall. Shifts are a minimum of two hours and run between 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays, 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, and 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday. ATTENTION FULL-TIME TENURE TRACK FACULTY: Are you interested in engaging your students in community-based learning? Become a Fall 2013 Academic Service-Learning (AS-L) Faculty Fellow. Academic service-learning is a teaching methodology which engages students in community service as a means of helping them gain a deeper understanding of course objectives, acquire new knowledge, and engage in civic activity.
As an AS-L Faculty Fellow you would receive one course released time for Fall 2013, attend a weekly two-hour semester-long seminar of sharing, exploring, and learning about AS-L with other faculty members, and a revised course syllabus or creative/scholarly initiative with students which integrates an AS-L experience. GRE PREPARATION COURSE: There will be a Princeton Review GRE Preparation Course offered by the McNair Scholars Program. The cost to EMU students is $350 (for a $1500 course). BREAKING BOUNDARIES: WOMEN AT THE FOREFRONT OF CHANGE: Eastern Michigan University is 'Breaking Boundaries' with Women's History Month March 2013. Produced by the Department of Women's and Gender Studies and the Women's Resource Center, the celebration runs through the month of March. Eighteen diverse events that include panel discussions, films, an art exhibit, a musical performance, a hip hop showcase, and a live demonstration of metalsmithing techniques, will draw students, faculty, staff, alumni and interested community members to campus. STUDENTS CAN EARN LBC-3 CREDIT AT THE UNDERGRADUATE SYMPOSIUM: Any student who attends a full session of oral presentations, reviews a poster display session, or examines the exhibits in the Design Expo can earn LBC-3 credits during the Undergraduate Symposium on Friday, March 22. To document attendance, students must stop by the LBC table located near the 2nd floor information area upon arrival. TRAINING SESSIONS ON PRIVACY ISSUES: To ensure that Eastern and its faculty and staff are in compliance/legal and regulatory requirement related to privacy issues, a new training session has been developed by the Office of Business and Finance. The privacy training, which is mandatory for all faculty and staff, is offered on several different dates and times in and effort to accommodate schedules, and will also be offered in an online format. Faculty and staff can attend any of the sessions listed below:

- Monday, April 8, 11 - Noon, Halle Auditorium
Based on these sessions, a program will be developed for the on-line HR system called Success Factors. REQUIRED SAFETY AWARENESS, HAZARD COMMUNICATION TRAINING: Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) will be conducting safety awareness & hazard communication training over the next four months. This is required for all EMU employees who have not yet taken this training and for those who may need a refresher. It is open to all employees and student employees, and provides information on the safety systems, practices and expectations to maintain a safe campus community. Available sessions are:

MICHIGAN COLLEGIATE JOB FAIR: EMU'S bi-annual Michigan Collegiate Job Fair (MCJF) is one of the state's largest career fairs, bringing graduating seniors and alumni from Michigan's colleges and universities together with over 120 employers to begin their job search. The upcoming fair will take place today, March 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Burton Manor in Livonia, MI. THEATRE OF THE YOUNG DEBUTS NEW TOURING PRODUCTION: EMU's Theatre of the Young present "Taking Flight: Tales of Courage" tonight, March 22, at 7 p.m., in Room 310, in the Student Center. This premiere was written by two EMU graduate students, Jason and Tori Tomalia, and is directed by Tori Tomalia.
