CAPSTONE CLASS - SENIOR THESIS SHOW: This exhibition marks the highlight exhibition from the Capstone class that serves as the professional practice class under EMU’s new BFA Curricula. The Exhibition show will run through Wednesday, April 24, in the Student Gallery at the Student Center. There will be a reception on Monday, April 22 from 4 - 7 p.m.

 

EMU DANCE MAJORS PERFORM AT THE DIA: EMU dance majors, under the direction of professor Joanna McNamara, will perform in the Diego Rivera Detroit Industry Murals Court at the Detroit Institute of Arts on Sunday, April 28, 2 - 4 p.m. The event, which is open to the public, consists of an open rehearsal followed by a presentation by professor McNamara on the multiple processes involved in making a video dance.  McNamara's new dance, to music by Paul Dreshner, will be filmed in the Rivera Court later in the week.  EMU faculty lecturer Laura Zimmerman, director of photography for the dance, will also participate in the Sunday presentation. DUAL EXHIBIT WILL SHOWCASE BELINDA MCGUIRE & JACKLYN NOVAK: The works of Belinda McGuire and Jacklyn Novak will be on display from Monday, April 29 to Friday, May 3 in Ford Gallery. McGuire's work reflects the uniqueness in form, texture and character of animals. Novak's work explores the tension between lighthearted, fun aspects of femininity. * DANGEROUS MINDS EXHIBITION: This exhibition features works from area high schools. The exhibition celebrates regional talent in the visual arts and will be on display from Monday, May 13 to Friday, May 24 in Ford Gallery.
