Due to the extreme weather conditions, Eastern Michigan University is canceling all classes on Monday, February 2. This includes all planned campus activities, lectures and events. The University will be open as scheduled on Tuesday, February 3, for regular business and classes.

* DISSERTATION ORAL DEFENSE: Carmen Stokes, in Teacher Education will present her dissertation on "The Lived Experience of African American Nurses Who Attended Predominantly White University Baccalaureate Programs: Characteristics of Success and Resilience" on Friday, May 10, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., room 203, Marshall.

DISSERTATION ORAL DEFENSE: Mel Whalen, from the Psychology Department will present her dissertation on "Deaf Female-to-Male (FTM) Identity Explored," on Monday, May 20, 9 a.m., room 300 in Halle Library.   


REQUIRED SAFETY AWARENESS, HAZARD COMMUNICATION TRAINING: Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) will be conducting safety awareness & hazard communication training sessions. This is required for all EMU employees who have not yet taken this training and for those who may need a refresher. It is open to all employees and student employees, and provides information on the safety systems, practices and expectations to maintain a safe campus community. The following dates are still open:

  • Friday, June 14, 1- 2:30 p.m., in Room 302, Halle Library
