Today
THURSDAY, JULY 3
NOTES
AND QUOTES
On this date in 1775, George Washington took command of
the Continental Army at Cambridge, Mass.
Quote of the day: “To be prepared for war is one of
the most effectual means of preserving peace." — George
Washington
Notes on Nutrition: Cantaloupe is a fragrant fruit
related to cucumbers and squashes. The orange color inside
the melon is a great source of beta-carotene – 100
percent of your daily value is in a single cup. Cantaloupe
also has an abundance of vitamin C, with 113 percent of daily
needs per cup. Other melons, such as honeydew, are also good
choices though lower in both beta-carotene and vitamin C.
For more information on cantaloupes, go to FDA News vailable
at: www.fda.gov.
(Note: This nutrition note is brought to you by EMU’s
