SUMMER WRITING CAMP FOR YOUTH: The Eastern Michigan Writing Project (EMWP) is pleased to announce Inkstains, a summer writing camp for middle and high school students on the campus of EMU. The middle school writer's camp is scheduled for Monday, July 8 to Friday, July 12. The high school writer's camp is scheduled for Monday, July 15 to Friday, July 19. The camp runs Monday -Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The cost of the camp is $200. ATTENTION FULL-TIME TENURE TRACK FACULTY: Are you interested in engaging your students in community-based learning? Become a Fall 2013 Academic Service-Learning (AS-L) Faculty Fellow. Academic service-learning is a teaching methodology which engages students in community service as a means of helping them gain a deeper understanding of course objectives, acquire new knowledge, and engage in civic activity.
As an AS-L Faculty Fellow you would receive one course released time for Fall 2013, attend a weekly two-hour semester-long seminar of sharing, exploring, and learning about AS-L with other faculty members, and a revised course syllabus or creative/scholarly initiative with students which integrates an AS-L experience. SUMMER 2013 TUITION WAIVER DEADLINE: The deadline for submitting tuition waivers for Summer 2013 is Wednesday, May 15. All tuition waivers must be submitted to the Benefits Office, 140 McKenny Hall. GRE PREPARATION COURSE: There will be a Princeton Review GRE Preparation Course offered by the McNair Scholars Program. The cost to EMU students is $350 (for a $1500 course).
