Unravel the mysteries of the environment during EMU's Family Day lineup Oct. 9

YPSILANTI"Now you see it, now you don't" may be great words for a magic trick, but it's not something we want to experience with our world's natural resources.

Children and parents alike can now learn more about the challenges of the environment when DTE Energy presents Enviro-Magic at Eastern Michigan University's Family Day, Saturday, Oct. 9, noon - 4 p.m., at EMU's Ypsilanti campus.

The 30-minute show is a fascinating look at the mysteries of our environment, while teaching families how to preserve nature's resources.

As part of the show, the DTE Energy magician will turn a $10 bill into scrap paper; multiply a glass of water 100 times; make a bottle disappear and perform other great tricks that are not only fun, but draw attention to important environmental challenges. The DTE Energy Enviro-Magic show is scheduled at 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m., in EMU's McKenny Union.

Other Family Day events include story time with Sam; Josh, the comedic juggler; a visit by President Abraham Lincoln; a live birds of prey demonstration; face painting; music by the Ypsilanti High School Jazz Band; puppet shows; a performance by the Great Bobini, a deaf magician, and free tickets to the EMU women's volleyball game, Oct. 9, 7 p.m., in the Convocation Center.
