EMU Veterans Week focuses on those who have made sacrifices for country YPSILANTI — Eastern Michigan University has had men and women serve in every war since the Civil War. Some have returned and some have not. Other EMU Veterans Week events will include a flag-raising ceremony, a keynote address featuring Tuskegee Airman Alexander Jefferson and Major General William Henderson, and a concert by the Air Force Falconaires. • Nov. 9: “The Veteran Experience: An Open Conversation,” 3 p.m., Student Center Kiva Room. EMU student veterans will share their stories of military service during this open forum. • Nov. 11: Ribbon cutting for the EMU Veterans Services Office, noon-1 p.m., 246 McKenny Hall. • Nov. 11: EMU Student Veteran Dedication and flag raising, 2 p.m., Westview Apartments. • Nov. 11: “The Honor of Service,” 4 p.m., Student Center Auditorium. Major General William Henderson, Tuskegee Airman Alexander Jefferson and EMU faculty member Steven Ramold will be the speakers. • Nov. 11: EMU Supports its troops’ letter writing campaign, 5-8 p.m., 304 Student Center. EMU Student Government will give free T-shirts to all the letter writers. • Nov. 13: Air Force Falconaires Jazz Ensemble Concert, 7 p.m., Pease Auditorium.
