YPSILANTI - The appointments of 29 new tenure-track faculty for the 2000-2001 academic year were approved by the Eastern Michigan University Board of Regents at its regular meeting June 20. All of the appointments are effective Aug. 23.
The new tenure-track faculty and their departments are:
€ Jessica Alexander, assistant professor, Department of Communication and Theatre Arts. She earned her master's of fine arts degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1996.
€ Randal Baier, assistant professor, Department of Learning Resources and Technologies. He earned his master's degree in information and library services from the University of Michigan in 1988.
€ Wendy Burke, assistant professor, Department of Teacher Education. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Illinois in 1999.
€ Ella Burton, assistant professor, Department of Leadership and Counseling. She earned her doctorate in education at Wayne State University in 1987.
€ Ann Marie Cano, assistant professor, Department of Psychology. She earned her Ph.D. from State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1998.
€ Daniel Clemans, assistant professor, Department of Biology. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in 1990.
€ Joseph Csicsila, assistant professor, Department of English Language and Literature. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in 1998.
€ John DeHoog, assistant professor, Department of Fine Arts. He earned his master of fine arts degree from Rhode Island School of Design this year.
€ Margo Dichtemiller, assistant professor, Department of Teacher Education. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 1994.
€ Heidi Estrem, assistant professor, Department of English Language and Literature. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Nevada, Reno, this year.
€ Roberta Faust, assistant professor, Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. She expects to earn her Ph.D. from Ohio State University this summer.
€ Veronica Grondona, assistant professor, Department of English Language and Literature. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in 1998.
€ Deborah Harmon, assistant professor, Department of Teacher Education. She earned her Ph.D. from Colorado State University in 1999.
€ Andrea Kaston, assistant professor, Department of English Language and Literature. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin in May.
€ Barbara Leapard, assistant professor, Department of Mathematics. She is currently working on her A.B.D. at the University of Toledo.
€ Jon Margerum-Leys, assistant professor, Department of Teacher Education. He is expected to earn his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan this year.
€ Nelson Maylone, assistant professor, Department of Teacher Education. He earned his master's degree from Wayne State University in 1989.
€ Stephen McGregor, assistant professor, Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. He is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Toledo.
€ Greg Mitchell, assistant professor, Department of Industrial Technology. He earned his master's degree from Wayne State University in 1976.
€ Adam Moore, assistant professor, Department of History and Philosophy. He earned his Ph.D. from Ohio State University in 1997.
€ Muralidharan Nair, assistant professor, Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. He is expected to earn his Ph.D. from the University of Virginia this summer or fall.
€ Brian Nelson, assistant professor, Department of Fine Arts. He earned his master of fine arts degree from Michigan State University in 1995.
€ David Nordstrom, professor, Department of Interdisciplinary Technology. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Iowa in 1963.
€ Eric Owen, instructor, Department of Learning Resources and Technologies. He earned one master's degree from the University of Michigan in 1999 and expects to earn a second master's degree from Western Michigan University this year.
€ Denise Pilato, assistant professor, Department of Interdisciplinary Technology. She earned her Ph.D. from Michigan State University in 1998.
€ Raymond Quiel, instructor, Department of Communication and Theatre Arts. He expects to earn his Ph.D. from Wayne State University in 2001.
€ Eric Schultz, assistant professor, Department of Management. He earned his Ph.D. from Rutgers University in 1997.
€ Lauren Sickels-Taves, assistant professor, Department of Geography and Geology. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh in 1988.
€ John Tonkovich, associate professor, Department of Special Education. He earned his Ph.D. at the University of Tennessee in 1978.
