EMU to host Higher Education Subcommittee on Appropriations hearings

YPSILANTI — Eastern Michigan University will host the House Higher Education Subcommittee on Appropriations Feb. 26 at EMU’s Student Center, Room 310. The hearings are open to the public.

Scheduled to appear before the subcommittee for this session are:

  • Michael Rao, president, Central Michigan University (10-10:30 a.m.)
  • Susan Martin, president, Eastern Michigan University (10:30-11 a.m.)
  • Gary Russi, president, Oakland University (11-11:30 a.m.)
  • Susan Moeller, president, EMU-American Association of University Professors (11:30-11:45 a.m.)

“Eastern Michigan University is delighted to be playing host to the House Higher Education Subcommittee on Appropriations.  This is a rare opportunity for lawmakers from around the state to see, hear, and feel what makes EMU such a vibrant and unique place to work and learn,” said Don Hazaert, acting director for governmental relations and special projects. “Legislators will be invited to tour our historic campus and see for themselves why EMU is such a valuable resource for the entire state.”

Members of the House subcommittee include: Rep. Joan Bauer (chair), Rep. Vincent Gregory (majority vice chair), Rep. Bill Caul (minority vice chair), Rep. Robert Dean, Rep. Bob Genetski, Rep. Lee Gonzales, Rep. Bill Haines, Rep. Gary McDowell, Rep. Alma Wheeler Smith and Rep. Rashida Tlaib.
