YPSILANTI - Students and their families will feel the exciting call of fall when about 1,400 new freshman, transfer and international students arrive on campus Sept. 4 for move-in and orientation at Eastern Michigan University.
Fall classes at Eastern start Wednesday, Sept. 8.
Residence hall move-in runs Saturday, Sept. 4 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. From 1:30 p.m. to 3:05 p.m., parents and family members can attend a variety of workshops on topics such as campus safety and academic and career advising to help them learn more about Eastern. Students will attend a series of events from Sept. 4 to Sept. 7 to familiarize themselves with various aspects of campus.
A special new feature this year is a way-finding system that will help students navigate campus during renovations of the Pray-Harrold classroom building. The feature is on the Eastern website home page, at emich.edu.
President Susan Martin will welcome students and parents at a special convocation ceremony Sept. 4 at the Convocation Center from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Then comes free tailgate dinners for new students and their families, followed by Eastern Michigan's football opener, against Army at 7 p.m. at Rynearson Stadium.
