Ypsilanti - Forget "Black Friday" and your shopping hassles.
If Eastern Michigan University and Cueter Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealership have anything to do with it, the day after Thanksgiving will be called "Green Friday."
EMU and Cueter are partnering to give away a three-year lease of a new green Jeep Wrangler during EMU's home football game vs. Northern Illinois University at Rynearson Stadium, noon Nov. 26. The value of the lease is $13,500.
The reason for the contest is to show fans appreciation for their renewed support. Actual EMU gate attendance has increased 26 percent during the first three 2010 home football games compared with the 2009 season (18,719 in 2009 vs. 23,599 in 2010).
To enter the contest, fans 18 and older will need to guess the number of mini footballs stuffed inside the vehicle before the game starts and be present to win. The person who guesses closest to the actual number will be announced as the winner during the game's second half. Winner of the lease will need to provide proof of insurance and clear Chrysler's credit approval process. Having a co-signer is permitted. The winner will be automatically entered into Cueter's VIP program.
Need more reasons to leave your shopping bags?
Fans can register to win a widescreen 2GB MacBook in a random drawing or they may take advantage of many freebie opportunities, such as inflatables in the Eagles Landing fan zone, photo booth, face painting, tattoos, T-shirts and one of-a-kind cartoon collector's stadium cups.
The Wrangler and more details about the contest will be available for viewing at this Saturday's home football game vs. Toledo, 4 p.m., Rynearson Stadium.
