YPSILANTI - The Eastern Michigan University Board of Regents approved the appointments of 12 new staff at its regular meeting June 21.
Of the 12 appointments, seven are males and five are females.
The new staff appointments include:
Rob Murphy, of Syracuse, N.Y., head coach for men's basketball. Before coming to EMU, Murphy was an assistant men's basketball coach at Syracuse University from 2004-2011. During that period, the Orangemen made five trips to the NCAA Tournament and two to the NIT. Previously, he was an assistant men's basketball coach at Kent State University fro 202-2004. Both teams appeared in the NIT. Murphy received his bachelor's degree from Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio.
Michael Brown, of Mobile, Ala., assistant head coach for men's basketball. Brown was the assistant men's basketball coach and recruiting coordinator for the University of South Alabama from 2009-2011. From 2008-2009, Brown was the head men's basketball coach at Motlow State Community College in Tullahoma, Tenn., where he led the team to a 22-8 record and a conference title. Brown was the director of basketball operations for Kent State University during 2007-2008. Brown received both his master's degree in sports administration and bachelor's degree in English from Wayne State University.
Luke Denison, of Ypsilanti, Web analyst programmer for the division of information technology. Denison was the information technology systems administrator for Rainbow Rehabilitation in Livonia from 2009-2011. From 2007-2009, he worked as a help desk technician for EMU. He received his bachelor's degree in political science from Eastern Michigan University.
Christopher Hoppe, of Moon Township, Pa., associate athletic director for compliance. Hoppe was the assistant athletic director for compliance and sport superviser at Robert Morris University from 2008-2011. From 2006-2008, he was the student-athlete eligibility/student services coordinator for San Diego State University. Hoppe received both his Juris Doctorate and bachelor's degree in English literature from the University of Wisconsin.
Robert Keefer, of Tecumseh, information security analyst, division of information technology-security. Keefer was an security analyst for HCR ManorCare from 2008-2011. He was the information services manager for Optimal Inc. from 2007-2008. He worked for Dominant Systems as a senior network engineer from 2003-2007.
Christen Lesko, of Taylor, academic adviser I, career services. Lesko was an academic adviser for Jackson Community College in Michigan from 2010-2011. Previously, she was a graduate assistant for EMU's Academic Advising Center from 2009-2010. She received her master's degree in educational leadership from EMU and her bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
Sarah Soltis, of Jackson, research associate I, health and human services. Soltis was an independent contractor research associate for EMU from 2010-2011. She also has worked as a client advocate for AWARE Inc. during 2008. She received her master's degree in social policy and evaluation with children and youth in families and society from the University of Michigan. She received her bachelor's degree in sociology from Spring Arbor University.
Elizabeth Warren, of Brighton, college Webmaster, extended programs-enrollment management program. Warren was the niche publications Web content producer for The Disptach Printing Company in Columbus, Ohio, from 2010-2011. She also was the community Web content producer for the same company from 2008-2010. She received her bachelor's degree in communication technology from Ohio State University.

Tammy Byrd, of Rives Junction, Mich., custodian, custodial services.
Alistair Halton, Ann Arbor, library assistant III, Halle Library.
Amber Truhn, of Ypsilanti, custodian, custodial services.
Marcus Wilkerson, of Canton, custodian, custodial services.
