MT. CLEMENS - As part of a statewide rezoning to better align with the traditional regional layouts, and to offer services to more small businesses, the Macomb Business Center is now a part of the Southeast Michigan Region of the Michigan Small Business & Technology Development Center (MI-SBTDC.)
The Macomb County Planning & Economic Development Department in Mt Clemens will continue to host the Macomb Center. Eastern Michigan University remains the host of the Southeast Michigan Region MI-SBTDC, which serves Wayne, Oakland and now Macomb County.
The transition will seem transparent to the public, but business clients in Oakland and Wayne Counties will now have a greater exposure to events and training opportunities in Macomb County, and vice versa, as the center continues to provide technical assistance, market research and one-on-one counseling to small companies.
"The Macomb County Business Center has always been a valuable component of the MI-SBTDC network" said Richard King, director of the Southeast Michigan Region. "With their office as part of our region, we look forward to serving the clients of Macomb County and continuing to offer business counseling and training that will help them succeed."
Don Morrandini, Deputy Director of Economic Development for the Macomb County, continues to lead the Macomb Center. He is joined by Robert Watt as Business Consultant and Jamie Judson as Intake Assistant, both of whom are new to the Macomb Center.
The MI-SBTDC in Macomb County served 311 clients in 2011 and was responsible for $21 million in capital formation and 323 jobs retained and 177 jobs created. Contact the service center at:
