WABC-TV Sportscaster Rob Powers (BS88) will speak at EMU Friday, May 11 in 101 Quirk at 10 a.m. Powers is the lead sports anchor for WABC-TV in New York City, reporting sports news for the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. weekday newscasts. WABC, the ABC-owned television station in New York, is the most watched station in the nation's largest media market and attracts a larger audience than any other television station in the nation. He joined WABC's Eyewitness News team as weekend sports anchor in 2009 and took on his current role in January 2011. He covers sports news for New York and New Jersey professional sports teams, as well as national and local sports news. Before coming to New York, Powers was the longtime sports director and 5:30 news anchor at ABC-owned WTVG-TV in Toledo, Ohio.
