YPSILANTI: Whether you are currently an undergraduate or a working professional, a graduate degree or certification can be an important stepping stone to a promotion or a new career.

Now's the time to take that first step by learning more about Eastern Michigan University's more than 180 graduate programs during its Graduate Open House, Saturday, Nov. 10, 10 a.m. to noon, in the EMU Student Center ballroom, 900 Oakwood, Ypsilanti.

The free event offers information about a variety of disciplines in such areas as science, the arts, business, education, technology, and health and human services.

During the open house, prospective students can:

  • Speak with a representative and receive general information about the programs and contact information for faculty advisers.
  • Learn about graduate assistantships and doctoral fellowships.
  • Meet with faculty members from several doctoral and cohort programs.
  • Apply for admission. The application fee will be waived for the first graduate program that you apply to.
  • Register for a drawing to win tuition credits. Three winners will each receive this $1,500 award.

As an Eastern Michigan graduate student, you'll become part of anexciting community of world-renowned scholars and nearly 5,000 intellectually-vibrant students who are driven to learn, challenge and redefine the boundaries of their academic and professional fields.

In addition, consider these advantages that set Eastern Michigan apart from other graduate schools:

  • A flexible doctoral program that offers full-time and part-time enrollment; evening classes for students with day jobs and educational leadership classes on Sundays.
  • Eastern offers more than $4 million for graduate assistant positions, enabling students to work and earn income as they pursue their degrees, and
  • A 90-percent completion rate for our doctoral graduates-significantly higher than the 30-percent national completion rate for doctoral students.

Eastern's faculty and staff are fully invested in their students' success because our supportive academic environment places a priority on mentorship. Our faculty is known for promoting opportunity, and encouraging students to take on new challenges.

This open and welcoming campus environment fosters strong intellectual relationships that will last long after you begin your professional career.
