YPSILANTI: College seniors, graduates and alumni of Michigan two-or four-year colleges will have a valuable opportunity to attend the Michigan Collegiate Job Fair (MCJF), which brings together employers and prospective employees.
The bi-annual event is Friday Nov. 16, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., at Burton Manor, 27777 Schoolcraft Rd. in Livonia. The cost is $15 at the door.
The fair is sponsored by Eastern Michigan University and supported by the Michigan Career Educator and Employer Alliance.
"This is an excellent opportunity for graduating college seniors and recent alumni in the state of Michigan to network with more than 100 employers from various industries with active job openings," says Ebony Jones, a senior corporate relations manager with Eastern Michigan University.
Jones recommends candidates should dress for success, bring several copies of their resume, and be prepared to discuss their skills.
Nearly 130 employers are currently registered including: IMB, Palace Sports and Entertainment, Quicken Loans, Target, Valassis Communications Toys "R" Us, Veterans Affairs Ann Arbor Health Care System, and various State of Michigan departments and government agencies.
A complete list of all participating employers is available at www.mcjf.org. Many of the employers perform on-site interviews and are also seeking entry-level candidates for many positions.
A new addition this year is LiveWorkDetroit!, a statewide initiative connecting Michigan's college graduates to new opportunities in Detroit. Job fair attendees can participate in an all-inclusive day-long event that connects college students with Detroit industry and community leaders, affordable housing and trendy nightspots. LiveWorkDetroit! will provide transportation to and from the Burton Manor.
The Michigan Collegiate Job Fair is one of the state's largest and longest running job fair events.
