YPSILANTI – The EMU Military Veteran Resource Center (MVRC) is working with several community resources to provide military veterans with additional services.  Please contact the EMU center if you are a veteran or know a veteran who is in need of any of the following services:

  • Service-connected disability claims, accessing veterans hardship funds, VA pensions, and hospital enrollments. A Veterans of Foreign Wars service officer is available to assist veterans and their dependents.
  • Assistance with VA health care eligibility, enrollment and information regarding various health care benefits. Help is provided by Veterans Integration to Academic Leadership (VITAL) Initiative and VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System.
  • B2B (Buddy-to-Buddy) is a peer-to-peer outreach program that offers free and confidential peer support and linkage to resources for service members and veterans from Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), and Operation New Dawn (OND) throughout the state of Michigan.
  • PAVE (Peer Advisors for Veteran Education) is a peer-mentoring program that connects incoming veterans with trained EMU student veterans to provide links to needed resources on and off campus.

EMU also offers any U.S. military veteran resident tuition rates under an award program called Vet Connect. The grant is based on 24 credit hours per year of the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition. Awards will be made to non-resident veterans who have been honorably discharged or medically separated from service with at least one year of service.

Eastern Michigan University has been named one of the country's top "military friendly" schools by GI Jobs magazine for the last several years. The magazine's list recognizes the 15 percent of universities and colleges that best serve veterans nationwide.
