EMU earns 2 more business communicator awards for top marketing campaigns

YPSILANTI  -  Eastern Michigan University's Division of Communications earned two more major awards from the Detroit chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).

IABC Detroit recognized EMU with Merit Awards for its "Study on the Slopes" and "I AM TRUEMU" marketing campaigns at its Renaissance Awards program June 27, at the Henry Ford Centennial Library in Dearborn.

Judges praised the campaigns for creative messaging and design.

"We are excited to receive awards that underscore the high level of professionalism, skill and talent at EMU," said Ted Coutilish, associate vice president, marketing, Division of Communications.

Coutilish, who was named the 2012 IABC Detroit Communicator of the Year, introduced the 2013 Communicator of the Year award winner during the program. The award is given to a veteran communications professional who exemplifies excellence in such areas as professional achievement and civic and/or charitable contribution of communications expertise. This year's winner was Colleen Hanley of CareTech Solutions, a health information technology services company.

Over the previous three years, the IABC Detroit chapter has recognized eight of EMU's entries, including two Awards of Excellence and the "Best of Show" award for its football marketing plan. That plan also won a Silver Quill Award from the IABC Heritage Region.
